OREGON STATE HEAD COACH JUDY SPOELSTRA QUOTES
On the performance of the team against Washington State:
"I was very proud of our team. I thought they came out and played very hard right at the beginning of the game. They made a great jump on WSU and kept the lead, which enabled us to get a lot of subs and different people into the game. It also enabled us to get different people experience running different player-to-player and zone defenses."
"I really credit the starters at the beginning of the game. I thought that their intensity was where it needed to be, especially after coming off of such a big emotional victory over Washington on Thursday it was a big question mark in both the coaches and players minds."
On the play of senior Michelle Smith in her final home game as a Beaver (13 points, eight rebounds):
"I give all the credit to Michelle Smith, she was very ready to go this weekend. She was coming off of a bad hand injury in which her whole hand was black and blue. She was very hot and she was working well around the offensive boards as well as making great cuts and movement without the basketball."
"She gave us a lot of good hustle plays."
On the play of senior Kristina Rukstelyte in her final home game as a Beaver (eight points, five rebounds):
"Kristina came in and just gave us some solid time in there. She gave us a lot of pressure up front. She isn't afraid to pick up full court so the guards know that when she gets in there then they get to pick that up a little bit."
On the fans and the Beavers going 12-2 at home on the year:
"It's great, now we just need to load up all these fans and get them down to San Jose for the Pac-10 tournament."
