OREGON STATE HEAD COACH JUDY SPOELSTRA QUOTES
On OSU starting the game well:
"Washington is a very good basketball team. Basically Washington did to us (in Seattle) what we just did to them. They came out and they were hitting 3s everywhere. We knew that this was a dangerous basketball team and that we would have to get a good start. Give our kids a lot of credit. They started the game off very hard."
On the play of Michelle Smith and the offense:
"She hadn't shot that much because she hurt her finger during warm-ups for Oregon. We had almost a wallet-sized pad on it all week. That really effected her shooting and ball handling. She just really let it go today. She did a great job and was a great punch for us. I think the reason our field goal percentage was so high in the first half was because all of our players were running the floor and we kept the floor spread. We were moving the ball and our bodies as well as I've seen in a couple of weeks."
On OSU's execution late in the game:
"I knew that we had three very good free-throw shooters on the floor in Leilani (Estavan), Brina (Chaney) and Jessica (Jones) and we just really wanted the ball in any one of their hands. Hollye Chapman did a great job in-bounding the ball. We didn't have any turnovers or unnecessary passes. She did a great job directing traffic. Jessica was very focussed this week in practice and I think those extra shots helped her confidence (shooting free throws)."
