Judy Spoelstra quotes following Nov. 24 game vs. Western Oregon
"When you are aggressive like that you risk those kinds of penetration moves to the basket. The next thing to look at on film is when somebody does do that if we are forcing that, then to look at help side. The flip side is are we being to aggressive at a time when we wanted to pull back about five percent and contain better and not foul. I wanted to find the right combination of players that would lead defensively and still be able to give us some offense."
On OSU's height advantage:
"We knew that would be a factor. I think it probably showed up not so much in shooting, but in rebounding. We limited them in the first half to one offensive rebound. We told our kids at halftime what do you think they are talking about in their locker room. They have to get second and third shots."
On final score:
This is a team that was up against Portland at halftime. They are legitimate players they are going to work hard , in all the cases when you are the little dog trying to beat the big dog you are going to fight twice as hard. And I thought they fought really hard to keep it close. I figured that margin of victory being about this. I didn't anticipate holding them to 37 points but I didn't think we'd only score 59. We had a lot of open looks. Twenty-five percent in the post in the first half is not good."
On Friday's opponent Tulane:
They are big on the inside and are very athletic. They have a very good point guard who was a transfer and redshirted for them last year who is supposed to be their difference maker. Their best post player I think shot 65 percent last season. Defense is going to have to be the key in Friday night's game."
