OSU Just Misses Men's Soccer Upset

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Oregon State pushed 18th-ranked Cal State-Fullerton well into overtime Sunday afternoon before the Beavers fell 3-2 in the final round of the Diadora Tournament men's soccer event. OSU (2-2-0 overall) now gets ready for a game at Portland next Sunday at 4 p.m.
Against CSUF (4-0-0), Oregon State had a 2-0 lead early in the second half, but was unable to hold on for the win. The Titans finally managed a score in the third minute of the second overtime to end the contest.
OSU went up 1-0 in the first half when James Albert scored off a pass from Alex Close. In the 49th minute, J.P. Capodanno found the net from the right side after taking a pass from Justin Kirk to give Oregon State a 2-0 lead.
Cal State-Fullerton answered with goals just over four minutes apart midway through the second half. Colby Jackson used an assist from Antonio Martinez to score in the 63rd minute, then Art Ramirez evened the game at 2-2 in the 67th minute off a pass from Jackson.
Finally, in the 108th minute, Martinez took a pass from Ramirez on the left side, dribbled in and put the ball in the net to end OSU's upset hopes.
