Brooks joined the Sports Information staff as a communications assistant/director of writing in Aug., 2014. He covers wrestling, track & field and cross country, and writes feature articles.
He worked as a sports reporter for 34 years before coming to OSU. Brooks spent the final 26 years of his career at the Corvallis Gazette-Times, from Oct., 1984 until Jan., 2011. He left the G-T to become Director of Media Relations for the Corvallis Knights of the college wood-bat summer baseball West Coast League, a position he still holds.
Brooks played baseball and soccer at East Aurora (N.Y). High School and graduated from the University of Richmond (Va.) in 1976, with degrees in journalism and history. He worked at the Minot (N.D.) Daily News from 1976-79 and at the Bismarck (N.D.) Tribune from 1979-84 before moving to Corvallis in Oct., 1984.
He and his wife, Margi Dusek, have a son, Owen, a graduate of Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis who is a freshman at OSU in 2016-17.
