- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Grant Williams joined the Beavers in the spring of 2015 with extensive experience as a collegiate coach.
In his first season with Oregon State, Williams helped the Beavers reach a number of new milestones. The assistant coach aided in leading a young OSU team to marquee wins over Marquette and Michigan State, as well as the program’s first win over UCLA in a decade. For their efforts, the Beavers notched a trio of All-Pac-12 honorees, including First Team recognition for forward Timmy Mueller.
Prior to joining Oregon State, Williams was a coach at Idaho, where he helped the team make the Western Athletic Conference Semifinal in 2011. During two seasons with the Vandals, Williams served as the recruiting coordinator and goalkeeper coach, and helped with film analysis.
Before joining the staff in Idaho, Williams spent three years as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team at Wisconsin-Green Bay. The Phoenix’ goals against average dropped dramatically under Williams’ tutelage, as the team went on to give up just 0.88 goals per contest in his final season with the squad, after allowing 2.16 goals per game prior to his arrival. In addition to working with the goalkeepers, Williams helped prepare scouting reports and was involved in the team’s recruiting efforts.
Williams has also served as an assistant for Albion College, as well as spending time as head coach for several Olympic Development Programs in both Idaho and Wisconsin. He played collegiate soccer at Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore., where he still owns the school record for career saves and minutes played.
