Head Coach Michael Eichler announced the addition of Maddy Horridge to the OSU women's rowing coaching staff on Sept. 30, 2024.
Horridge got to Corvallis by way of Knoxville, Tenn., where she worked as a Graduate Assistant on the staff at Tennessee for two seasons before working with US Rowing and the Oak Ridge Rowing Association in 2024.
During her time on the Volunteers’ staff, Horridge executed training sessions for both novice and varsity athletes while managing recruit visits, building training programs and working closely alongside coaches to facilitate team travel.
Her time at UT culminated in leading the Third Varsity Eights to a third-place finish at the 2023 Big 12 Rowing Championships, finishing just 0.328 seconds behind second place Kansas.
After two seasons at Tennessee, she worked for US Rowing as a Timing Contractor and as a Lead Youth Rowing Coach for the Oak Ridge Rowing Association in 2024, where she led a group of female athletes to compete at the National Youth Championships.
Prior to starting her coaching career, Horridge rowed collegiately at Syracuse.
She was part of an Orange boat that was named 2016-17 Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Year after the fall season and split time with both the first and second eights during the spring. She was in the bow seat at the NCAA Championships for the second eights who finished in 11th place.
After competing in two regattas as a junior and having her senior season canceled due to COVID-19, Horridge as a fifth year competed in Syracuse’s varsity eight boat that placed third at the ACC Rowing Championship and eventually finished in 10th place at the NCAAs, the highest finish in program history.
Originally from Brisbane, Australia, she graduated from Syracuse in 2021 with degrees in Psychology and Sociology and is nearing completion on a master’s degree, started at Tennessee in 2021.
