Hogan Arey, a golf professional at Trysting Tree Golf Club and former NCAA Division I men’s golf student-athlete, was hired as an assistant coach at Oregon State on September 1, 2025.

Arey helped lead the Beavers back to the NCAA National Championships in his first year as an assistant coach in 2025-26. Other accomplishments and highlights for Arey and the program include:
Arey has provided instruction to juniors, high school athletes, and adults, tailoring coaching to skill level and goals, as a golf professional since 2020. He specializes in swing mechanics, short-game development, mental training and tournament preparation.

A graduate from the University of Louisiana-Monroe in 2018, Arey was a three-time team captain on the men’s golf team and earned First-Team All-Louisiana and Third-Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2017. He had a career stroke average of 74.14, which is still among the Top 10 in program history.

He had six career Top 10 finishes, including multiple Top 5 placements, with 265 birdies in 97 rounds during his collegiate career. ULM won five team titles during his three years as a captain.

Arey graduated from Corvallis High School where he was a four-time All-League and All-State selection, while leading the Spartans to back-to-back Oregon State Championships in 2010 and 2011.

He represented the Oregon Junior Golf Association in the 2012 Jr. America's Cup and won the Oregon Pub Links Championship in 2014 and 2015, and the Oregon Coast Invitational in 2014Â

Arey’s family members have ties to Oregon State. His wife, Alana, is the daughter of OSU gymnastics head coach Tanya Chaplin and associate head coach Michael Chaplin. His grandpa, Jack Riley, was the head coach of the Beaver baseball program from 1972-94 and his father, Sean, played golf for Oregon State from 1981-83 and has been the head professional at Trysting Tree Golf Club since 1992.

- Ranked No. 47 in the final Scoreboard national poll.
- Advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the ninth-straight time.
- Finished in third place at the NCAA Stanford Regional, the second best finish in regional competition in program history.
- Kyra Ly, Raya Nakao and Kate Nakaoka were all voted to the 10-member WCC All-Conference Team, the most Oregon State golfers ever to make an All-Conference team.
- Won the team title at the Molly Collegiate Invitational, the 17th in program history.
- Kyra Ly Kyra Ly shared the individual title at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
- Kyra Ly shot an 11-under 202 at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship equaling the second-lowest three-round score in program history.
- Kyra Ly had a scoring average of 72.85, equaling the eighth best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Raya Nakao had a scoring average of 73.23, the 12th best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Kate Nakaoka had a scoring average of 73.51, the 13th best in Oregon State single-season history.
- Raya Nakao (5), Kyra Ly (4) and Kate Nakaoka (4) combined for 13 Top 10 finishes.
- Kyra Ly competed at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
- Rebecca Kim, Kyra Ly and Raya Nakao were all selected to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team.
- Kelly Hope and Clara Alevag both earned WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition.
