Meredith Crane begins her first season at Oregon State after coaching mainly at the high school level. In her one season at East Valley High School, she led the men's cross country team to the state championships, while having two individual freshmen female state qualifiers.
"Meredith has been there as a Division I student-athlete," Sullivan said. "She's a former NCAA individual qualifier in cross country, and most recently she has coached at the high school level at one of the top programs in the state of Washington. She is excited to be here, starting the next adventure in her career goals of coaching at this level. We are very fortunate to of added someone of her skill and passion."
As a true freshman at Texas A&M, Crane qualified individually for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, marking the first time in school history that had happened. She finished as 13th at the Big 12 Conference Championships, and ninth at the NCAA South Central Regional individually, helping her team to a third place finish as a rookie. As an Aggie, she competed in one indoor and outdoor track season.
Transferring in 2005 to Seattle Pacific, Crane continued to compete for the Falcons in her final season of eligibility. She finished second at the conference cross country meet, fifth at the regional meet and qualified for the NCAA Championships, but did not compete due to illness.
In addition to her time at East Valley High School, Crane also coached at her former high school, Davis. Under her watch in 2009, one male runner finished second at the state meet in the mile, and current student-athlete Sandra Martinez finished third in the two mile and sixth in the mile at the state championships.
Crane is from Yakima, Wash., and graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in exercise physiology. She is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine.
