A graduate of Gonzaga University, Lucas joins the Beavers Cross Country & Track and Field coaching staff at the start of 2018. Rothenberger comes to Oregon State after a coaching stint at Jesuit High School in Portland.Â
During his time at Jesuit High School, Lucas coached eight podium-?nishing teams and three State Championship Teams in Cross Country.. Â He coached over 70 All-League performances, 40 All-State performances, One Individual State Champion in 2017, One School Record Holder in 5,000m XC and a 15th Place NXN Girls Team in 2017.
In the spring he guided the distance runners ranging from 400m to 3,000m, which helped lead to ?ve State Track & Field Team titles.  He coached over 70 All-League performances, 50 All-State performances, three Individual State Champions at 3,000m and one at 1,500m. His coaching led to school records in the Girls 800m (2:10.64) Girls 1,500m (4:32.38) Girls 3,000m (9:42.56) Boys 1,500m (3:50.21) Boys 3,000m (8:14.47) Boys Two Mile (8:53.62) and Boys 5,000m (14.29.42).
