Alex Guyer joined the Beavers as an assistant coach in 2020. During his first campaign with the team, Oregon State went 9-5 and made the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history. Forward Gloire Amanda won the MAC Hermann Trophy as the best men's player in college soccer.
Guyer joined Oregon State after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Flagler College. During his time with the Saints, Guyer helped coach midfielder Dan McGuire to All-Region and All-Conference honors in 2019.
In 2019, Guyer also served as the Director of Goalkeeping for youth club Jacksonville Armada. He oversaw the goalkeeping department for the club while working directly with Boys Development Academy, Boys ECNL and Girls ECNL.
He spent two years as an assistant coach with the University of Alabama Huntsville men’s soccer team. In 2017, he helped coach the team to its first Gulf South Conference Tournament final appearance since 2009. Guyer helped coach six players to all-conference honors and four all-region selections. He joined UAH after a terrific playing career at Hastings College.
While at Hastings, Guyer started all four years in goal and earned All-America status in three of those seasons including being named a first team All-American in 2013 & 2014. Additionally, he was a three-time All-GPAC selection and was named the GPAC Defensive Player of the Year in each of those three seasons.
Three times he helped guide the Broncos to the NAIA national tournament including an appearance in the 2013 national quarterfinals.
Guyer was also strong in the classroom, earning NSCAA Academic All-America status in 2014 & 2015. He also possesses his USSF C license.
