2008: Keith is likely a starter at outside linebacker...good spring...quick player who fits the mold of recent Beaver linebackers. 2007: Came out of an anticipated redshirt year after game two to play in the final 11 contests...key member of the special teams...made 10 tackles for the season, including three vs. UCLA...intercepted WSU QB Gary Rogers in the fourth quarter, returning it 13 yards...recovered a California kickoff return fumble (forced by Gerard Lawson) that set up OSU for a field goal and a 31-21 fourth quarter lead in upset of the No. 2 Bears...one of three true-freshmen to play (James Rodgers & Darrell Catchings).
MOUNT WHITNEY: 2006 Visalia Times-Delta Player of the Year...two-year team captain...two-time All-West Yosemite League and All-Tulare County...Tulare County Defensive MVP...third team all-state...team defensive MVP as a senior...189 tackles and four interceptions as a senior...also played running back...forward in basketball where he was a two-year captain.
PERSONAL: Born in Orange County, California...son of Irv and Kelly Pankey...Irv played at Penn State and in the NFL for the Rams and Colts...Keith has two siblings, his twin brother Kevin is also enrolling at OSU as a football student-athlete...hiked Yosemite National Park alone in summer of 2006...involved in numerous OSU off the field activities, including the Student Athlete Advisory Committee...chose OSU because of the “academic opportunities and facilities”...majoring in fisheries and wildlife with aspirations of becoming a game officer.
