Kendrick Van Ackeren was named the interim outside linebackers coach at Oregon State in November 2021.
He is in his fourth year with the Beavers after spending the first three as a defensive graduate assistant coach. This came after spending the 2017 season in a similar role at Montana State. He also was an assistant coach in 2016 at his alma mater of Bellevue High School in Washington.
Van Ackeren was a standout linebacker at Montana for three seasons after originally starting his collegiate career at Hawai’i. While with the Grizzlies, Van Ackeren played all three of his eligible seasons (2013-15) starting the last two. He was twice selected to the Big Sky Conference second team and as a senior set the school record for tackles in one season with 130. Off the field, Van Ackeren was a member of the Black Student Union at Montana, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes in Action.

As a redshirt freshman at Hawai’i in 2011 he recorded 25 tackles and as a true freshman was named Defensive Scout Player of the Year.Â

Van Ackeren was the Seattle Times 3A Player of the Year at Bellevue High School. He was a two-time all-state honoree and led the team to its third straight state championship. He also earned all-league honors twice in basketball.
