Talite “JR” Moala
Quality Control Coach/Defense
JR Moala is in his second season with the program and first as a quality control coach for the defense after serving as an intern in 2015. He also spent one year as an assistant football coach and track and field coach at Hawthorne High School in California.
Moala was a linebacker at Portland State (1999-2001) and a fullback at El Camino Junior College (2004) in California. In between he served a two-year LDS Mission to Venezuela.
JR’s oldest brother, the late Tevita Moala was a standout linebacker for Oregon State (1999-2000) and is most remembered by Beaver fans for returning a fumble for a touchdown against California in the 2000 season that secured the program’s first winning regular season since 1970. Eric Moala (2005-06) played linebacker at OSU. His other two brothers, Tolu Moala and Fili Moala, played at Oklahoma State (2008-10) and USC (2005-08), respectively. Haloti Ngata of the Baltimore Ravens is a cousin.
JR and his wife are the parents of a two-year-old son, Joseph.
