Oregon State Credential Policies
Oregon State Athletics strictly enforces a credential approval policy designed to best allocate working media credentials in order to maximize coverage in a safe, professional working environment. Unfortunately, it is not possible to accommodate all requests. Firm guidelines for assigning media credentials are listed below, but all credentials are issued at the expert discretion members of the Athletics Communications office. Oregon State reserves the right to deny or revoke media credentials at all times.
Â
Requests for season and single-game credentials and parking should be requested to the relevant communications office member at least 48 hours in advance of the event. Please note, for events that require parking passes, requests should be made earlier if possible. Parking passes are limited and the reception of a credential does not guarantee a parking pass.
Â
Due to space limitations, credentials will be issued to full-time, salaried journalists from media outlets that cover Oregon State regularly and substantially or to representatives who regularly and customarily perform services for that outlet.
Â
Credentials are not transferable and should only be used by media members with a legitimate working function. Non-working individuals from a media outlet, children, spouses, friends, etc., will not be permitted in the media areas and may not utilize credentials in any fashion. Violation of this policy will result in immediate revocation of credentials. Issuance of media credentials does not guarantee working space on press row or in media work areas.
Â
Priority is granted to media entities that cover Oregon State on a regular and substantial basis, which includes coverage of press conferences, open practices, home and road games, and to visiting media members, using the following guidelines:
Â
• Originating radio and television personnel involved in a live television or radio broadcast of an Oregon State Athletics event.
• Daily newspapers, wire services, and regional and national publications.
• Non-originating radio and television personnel.
• Officially recognized Oregon State student publications and electronic media outlets.
• Non-daily newspapers and other publications.
Â
Due to limited space, credentials will not be issued to freelance or amateur writers or photographers without a specific assignment received in writing from the assigning organization.
Â
Credentials will be issued to websites on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the OSU Athletics Communications office. Priority will be given to websites that are affiliated with an accredited media outlet. Websites must have editorial, news-gathering content and not merely sponsor message boards, message centers or chat rooms where people are allowed to post anonymous information.
Â
By acceptance of a credential, the bearer agrees to abide by all of the Oregon State, Pac-12 Conference and NCAA policies and procedures as well as conduct him/herself in a professional and ethical manner. Violation of any of these policies will result in immediate revocation of credentials. The Oregon State Athletics Communications office reserves the right to revoke or deny credentials at any time.
Â
Generally, one-on-one media interviews with OSU’s student-athletes, coaches and staff will be restricted to credentialed media, although the Oregon State Athletics Communications office will evaluate all interview requests on a case-by-case basis.
Â
Media members who reach out directly to members of the OSU administration, coaches or student-athletes, without going through the communications office first, will receive a verbal reminder of the process. If there is a failure to adjust processes, a written warning will be sent notifying the individual that if it happens again, their media credential will be revoked for the remainder of that athletic year.
Â
Live Coverage Policy
Â
Credential holders (including television, Internet, new media and print publications) are not permitted to stream live video or audio through any form or provider at any Oregon State home event while the game is in progress.
Â
Credential holder agrees that the determination of whether an outlet is posting a real-time description shall be in OSU’s sole discretion. If Oregon State deems that a credential holder is producing a real-time description of the contest, OSU reserves all actions against credential holder, including but not limited to the revocation of the credential.
Â
OSU and its designated personnel shall be the final authority on whether a credential holder or credential entity is following the Live Coverage Policy.
