Q. It's great to see an OSU & BWOB alumni getting involved. Tell me more about Yvenson Bernard's role in this year's trip ...
A. Since Yvenson traveled to Guatemala in 2011, he has continued his dedicated involvement to OSU in many ways. Since 2013 Yvenson has been a member of the Our Beaver Nation team as a Discovery Officer, and in his personal life he works with RunGio, the foundation established by his brother, Cincinnati Bengal Gio Bernard. RunGio provides support to the community in Port au Prince that Gio & Yve's parents' emigrated to the US from in search of the American dream for their sons. The RunGio Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to provide children of Haiti with an opportunity for a quality education. Inspired by their mother, they built Le Jardin Vert de Josette with the help of family and friends. Thanks to Yvenson, Beavers Without Borders will travel to Le Jardin Vert de Josette in order to further the RunGio goals for providing free early education opportunities to Port au Prince.

"Beavers Without Borders was truly an eye opener. Seeing how it changed my fellow alums' vision on life was the most gratifying part of it all. It gave everyone a sense of how fortunate we are in the states. This experience can't be found in the classroom. Thank you to all of the donors that led the student-athletes experience!" - YvensonÂ
