Baseball To Scrimmage Saturday

CORVALLIS, Ore. – One of the first opportunities to see the 2016 Oregon State baseball team will be Saturday when the Beavers scrimmage at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Oregon State, which will be guided by head coach Pat Casey for the 22nd season in 2016, will open the scrimmage at 11:30 a.m. Fans are invited to attend and watch the workout (it is free to the public). It is scheduled to last between two and three hours.
The Beavers were recently ranked as the nation’s No. 8 program by D1Baseball.com. The ranking is not a preseason poll, but rather a look at the top programs in terms of momentum, facilities, support and other factors.
Oregon State earned that ranking by advancing to the postseason in 10 of the last 11 seasons, winning the national championship in 2006 and 2007. Nine former players have competed at the Major League level this season, with each one playing at least one year at OSU since 2005. Three of those nine, Jacoby Ellsbury, Cole Gilespie and Michael Conforto, account for four of the last 11 Player of the Year honors awarded by the now Pac-12 Conference.
