Pickerell Named WGCA All-American Scholar

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Oregon State women’s golfer Ashlee Pickerell was named an All-American Scholar by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on Monday.
The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with the minimum cumulative GPA being a 3.50.
Pickerell, a junior from Salem, Ore. who carries a 3.54 GPA in public health, was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team this past June after earning Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention recognition last year.
“Ashlee embodies the complete student-athlete, excelling on the golf course and in the classroom,” Oregon State head coach Sammie Chergo said. “Her hard work and dedication to Oregon State is incredible. This is a much deserved award.”
After transferring to Oregon State from the University of Tennessee in 2012, Pickerell has been a mainstay in the Beavers’ lineup. She played in all 10 tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 76.41, the 16th best in school history.
Pickerell fired a career-best 2-under 70 in the third round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic and her best finish was a tie for 19th place at that same tournament where she shot a season-best 5-over 221.
