Four Men?s Golfers Earn All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Scott Kim was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team for the second consecutive year, leading a group of four Oregon State men’s golfers to earn academic honors, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday.
Brian Jung, Conner Kumpula and Chris Tedesco all received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition.
Kim was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team for his 3.59 GPA in business accountancy. He was selected to the First Team last year and the Second Team in 2013. Kim, a senior from Richland, Wash., played in eight tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 74.38. He completed his four-year Oregon State career with a scoring average of 74.59 in 83 rounds.
Jung, a junior from Coquitlam, British Columbia, was selected Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the third straight year for his 3.29 GPA in business marketing. He played in 11 tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 73.64. His best score was a 5-under 66 in the first round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational and his best finish was a tie for 17th place at the Husky Invitational.
Kumpula, a sophomore from Albany, Ore., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors in his first eligible year for a 3.30 GPA in pre-industrial engineering. He played in seven tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 75.00. His best score was a 1-under 71 in two different tournaments and his best finish was 26th place at Golfweek’s Conference Challenge.
Tedesco, a junior from Gig Harbor, Wash., was named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the first time for his 3.36 GPA in business finance. He played in seven tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 74.86. His best score was an even-par 70 in both the first and second rounds at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate and his best finish was a tie for fifth place when he played as an individual at the Husky Invitational.
An Oregon State men’s golfer has now earned conference all-academic honors all 20 years since the recognition began in 1996.
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and must be a starter or significant contributor.
