T&F Places 17 On Pac-12 All-Academic Teams
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Seventeen Oregon State women’s track and field student-athletes earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, including a conference-best six on the First Team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Friday.
Seniors Monica Anderson, Allie Church, Kelsi Schaer and Maureen Tremblay and juniors Ally Jackson and Kira Kelly were all selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team, the most of any team in the conference. All six student-athletes have a GPA over 3.83. It’s the third straight year Schaer has received Pac-12 All-Academic First Team honors.
Seniors Morgan Anderson and Michele Turney and sophomore Bridget Regan were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.
Oregon State student-athletes receiving Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition are: McKenzie Byrd, Holly Cavalluzzo, Adrienne Demaree, Helen Ann Haun, Lucinda Howard, Bethany Imperial, Jessica Lautenbach, Kaylene Rust and Macaulay Wilson.
The team’s 3.78 cumulative GPA was second in the nation and for the 10th consecutive year Oregon State was part of the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Scholar Team.
“The number of our student-athletes on the academic team is a testament to their commitment to excel in all facets of their intercollegiate athletic experience,” Oregon State head coach Kelly Sullivan said. “I’m proud of their efforts in the classroom, in competition and in the community. I also want to thank our academic advising team for their commitment to assisting our student-athletes thrive with the time demands they have.”
Fourteen Oregon State women’s track and field student-athletes were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Academic Team and the team received the Oregon State Everyday Champion Team Academic Award at last month’s Bennys.
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and must be a starter or significant contributor.
