Eckert Selected By San Francisco In 20th Round

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State right-handed pitcher Travis Eckert has been selected in the 20th round, 606th overall by the San Francisco Giants in the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Wednesday.
He is the third OSU player selected in this year’s draft, following Andrew Moore in the second round Monday and Jeff Hendrix in the fourth round Tuesday.
Eckert has pitched for the Beavers one season, tallying a 6-2 mark and 4.08 earned run average in 16 games, all starts. Opponents hit .254 against him while he struck out 50 in 90 1/3 innings.
He is the 11th Oregon State player to be selected by San Francisco in the draft, with Dylan Davis the last taken by the Giants. He was a third-round selection in 2014.
The selection is the first of Eckert’s career.
