Oregon Twilight Meet next for Beavers

Oregon State will send a skeleton crew to compete at the Oregon Twilight Meet at Hayward Field on Friday. It’s the final tune-up for the Pacific-12 Conference Championships, set for May 16-17 at UCLA’s Drake Stadium.
OSU’s contingent will mainly consist of throwers and jumpers. The only runners competing are 1,500-meter specialists Morgan Anderson and Maureen Tremblay.
“We hope they can improve their status for regional marks,” OSU coach Kelly Sullivan said, specifically alluding to Anderson and thrower Melissa Ausman, both on the cusp qualifying for the NCAA West Regional, set for May 28-30 at the University of Texas.
“For others it’s an opportunity for them to improve and help us decide who else to take to the conference meet. The rest of the team who will compete at Pac-12s will work out at home this weekend.
“Hayward Field is very familiar to our team. We go to Oregon so often and our in-state kids also competed there in high school. It’s a very comfortable environment.”
Also, junior Kara Hallock is not entered in the Pac-12 heptathlon this weekend. Her season-best score of 5,087 points, the third-highest total in OSU history, would have made her a top-10 seed in the seven-event competition.
“We want her to [be completely fresh] to compete at open events at the Pac-12 meet,” Sullivan said. “She’s got a great mark in the long jump (19-5.25) and if she improves it by a few inches she can go to regionals.
“We just want to do what is best for her so she can move on to the regionals.”
