Moore Makes Next Golden Spikes Cut

DURHAM, N.C. – USA Baseball cut its Golden Spikes Award Watch List to 30 players on Thursday.
Andrew Moore made the cut. And for good reason.
Now just one of four players from the Pac-12 Conference on the list, Moore, who is Friday’s probable starter for the opener against Utah, is 4-2 on the year and has a stellar 1.98 earned run average. Arguably one of the most dominant pitchers in the conference this year, he is first in the league with a .191 batting average against, second in innings pitched (91.0) and strikeouts (81), and fifth in ERA.
Eleven of his 12 starts this season have qualified as quality starts – at least six innings with three earned runs or less – and his two runs allowed against Washington last weekend were the first earned runs he’s given up on an opponents’ field this season.
Moore will be looking for his 25th career win on Friday, which would move him into a tie for ninth place in school history. He has thrown 316 1/3 innings at OSU, which is seventh-most all-time, and his 221 strikeouts are just shy of Cecil Ira, who ranks 10th at 227.
The Beavers stay home this weekend when hosting Utah for three. First pitch Friday is 5:35 p.m. PT, followed by 1:35 p.m. on Saturday and 12:05 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets remain for all three games of the series – visit BeaverTickets.com to purchase seats. Fans can also call 800-GOBEAVS from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
All three games will be carried on the Beaver Sports Radio Network and the TuneIn application.

From USA Baseball
On May 22, USA Baseball will announce the semifinalists for the 2015 Golden Spikes Award. The semifinalists list will be sent to a voting body consisting of past USA Baseball National Team coaches and press officers, members of the media that follow the amateur game closely, select professional baseball personnel, current USA Baseball staff and the 37 previous winners of the award, representing a group of more than 200 voters.
Fan voting will once again be a part of the Golden Spikes Award in 2015. Friday, May 22, marks the day when amateur baseball fans across the country will be able to vote for their favorite semifinalists at GoldenSpikesAward.com. As part of this selection process, all voters will be asked to choose three players from the list. On Tuesday, June 2, USA Baseball will announce the finalists, and voting will once again commence that same day.
The 2015 Golden Spikes Award winner will be named on Tuesday, June 23, at a presentation in Los Angeles. The finalists and their families will be honored at the Rod Dedeaux Foundation Dinner that evening at the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles.
