Andrew Moore Named Academic All-District
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State junior right-handed pitcher Andrew Moore has been named a Capital One Academic All-District 8 selection, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Moore is one of 11 players on the District 8 team, which covers the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai’i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington in addition to Canada. He is one of four players from the Pac-12 Conference on the list.
A digital communications arts major, he carries a 3.32 cumulative grade point average after the winter term at Oregon State. He is now vying to become the sixth OSU player to be named an Academic All-American, following Ken Bowen (1986 & 1987), Bryan Ganter (1986 & 1987), Mason Smith (1994), Ben Bertrand (1998) and Mitch Canham (2007).
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month and in early June.
The Beavers stay home this weekend when hosting Utah for three. First pitch Friday is 5:35 p.m. PT, followed by 1:35 p.m. on Saturday and 12:05 p.m. on Sunday.
