Last Game
Caleb Hamilton homered and Travis Eckert tossed 7 2/3 innings of shutout baseball to send the Beavers to a 4-1 victory over Washington Sunday in Seattle. Hamilton homered in the third, and saw OSU go up 2-0 after Jeff Hendrix tripled later in the inning.
30 Homer Plateau
The Beavers hit the 30 home run plateau for the season when Caleb Hamilton went deep Sunday. That’s nine more than the team’s 2014 total of 21. Oregon State has hit 30 or more in a season in five of the last six years.
Similar To 2012
If you thought the 2015 Beavers were similar to the 2014 team, well, then, you are right. OSU is 29-14 after 43 games; the 2012 team was 28-15. OSU is hitting .280 this season and sports a 3.28 earned run average. The 2012 team, meanwhile, finished the season with a .281 average and 3.48 ERA.
OSU At Home
Oregon State has been stellar at home this season, evidenced by an 18-4 mark at Goss Stadium. The Beavers are batting .275 at home while opponents have posted a paltry .193 clip. The OSU staff has a 2.54 ERA in the friendly confines.
Just Dialed In
Junior Jeff Hendrix has been dialed in over his last 10 games, all of which he has hit safely in - that’s called a hit streak. He is 16-for-32 (.500) during it, collecting eight RBI, seven walks, four doubles and two triples. That’s a .750 slugging percentage. The hit streak is the second-longest of the season for Hendrix. He had a 12 gamer earlier on.
Singles
• Oregon State is 19-3 this season when its pitchers issue three walks or less in a game.
• The Beavers are also 20-0 when an opponent scores two runs or less.
• OSU is 17-5 in non-conference games in 2015, including an 11-2 mark at home.
• The Beavers have outscored opponents, 50-10, in the third inning this season. The 50 runs amount to better than 20 percent of the team’s overall total of 240.
• OSU is 15-7 when scoring at least one run in the third inning of a game this season.
• It should be noted that a schedule change has been made for the finale vs. Utah. It is now a 12:05 p.m. PT start on Sunday.
