Alex Franklin Qualifies For NCAA Regionals

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior Alex Franklin was selected as an individual to compete at the NCAA Division I Men‘s Golf Regionals, which will be held Thursday, May 14 through Saturday, May 16 at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 14-16. Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals. The finals will be conducted May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida.
It’s the second straight year Franklin qualified for the NCAA Regionals as an individual. He finished in a tie for 14th place at the regional in Eugene, Ore., last year when he shot a 6-over 70-72-74--216 at the Eugene Country Club.
Franklin led the Beavers with a scoring average of 72.27, which is currently the eighth-lowest in Oregon State history. He had four top-10 finishes, including a tie for seventh at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate and a tie for eighth at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational.
He fired 11 under-par rounds during his senior campaign and had a season-best 3-under 67 three different times. His best three-round score was a 2-under 208 at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate when he finished in a tie for seventh place.
