Last Game
Andrew Moore struck out a season best 13 batters and Caleb Hamilton hit a two-run home run en route to three RBI to send the Beavers to a 4-0 win in the series opener against California. Moore scattered just two hits in a complete game.
Senior Day Saturday
Fans coming to Saturday’s game should note that OSU will be holding its annual senior day, and will be honoring Peyton Gastellum (manager), Clay Bauer, Michael Howard, Dane Lund and Zack Reser. Senior Day will start at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Against The Bay Area
Oregon State takes an 11-game win streak against California into Saturday’s game dating back to the 2012 season. Coupled with the now 11-game win streak over Stanford, the Beavers have won 22 straight games over the Bay Area schools.
Moore ... Wow
Andrew Moore struck out a season-best 13 in the win Friday night. That just so happens to equal the team’s total number of strikeouts in the entire series against Stanford. Moore has 63 strikeouts to just seven walks in 65 2/3 innings this season at Goss Stadium. The 13 strikeouts also gives him 243 for his career, which is now ninth in OSU’s record books.
Hammy
Since moving to short, a stretch of now 13 games, in which OSU is 10-2-1, Caleb Hamilton has been stellar. The sophomore is batting .320 (16-for-50) over that stretch, tallying one double, one triple, two home runs and six RBI. He’s also been solid defensively, committing just two errors in 71 chances (.972 fielding percentage).
Bring The Crowd Home
The Beavers are now just eight shy of equaling last season’s school record attendance in the regular season of 2,828. This year’s average of 2,820 should be pushed over the top with Saturday’s crowd.
Singles
• The Beavers are looking to even their all-time series against Calfornia at 39-39. OSU could get above .500 against the Golden Bears with a sweep. If that were to happen, OSU would own winning records in league play against Oregon, Utah, Washington and California.
