Andrew Moore A Golden Spikes Semifinalist

DURHAM, N.C. – Andrew Moore has been named one of 21 semifinalists for the 2015 Golden Spikes Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top amateur player.
Moore comes into tonight’s game against California – his final regular season start – with a 6-2 record and 1.87 earned run average. His 1.87 ranks second in the Pac-12 Conference, while his .201 average against and 90 strikeouts also land him one spot shy of first.
Moore, who has just 19 walks in 105 2/3 innings this season, is looking for his 27th career win Friday night. That would move him into a tie with Cecil Ira (1961-63) in Oregon State’s record books. He is already fourth in school history with 331 innings pitched, just 6 2/3 innings shy of No. 3 Mike Gorman (1979-82).
USA Baseball officials will announce the list of finalists for the 2015 Golden Spikes Award on Tuesday, June 2. To select the finalists, the list of semifinalists is sent to a voting body consisting of past Golden Spikes Award winners, past USA Baseball National Team coaches and press officers, members of media that closely follow the amateur game, select professional baseball personnel, and current USA Baseball staff, representing a group of more than 200 voters in total.
Fan voting will once again be a part of the Golden Spikes Award in 2015. This announcement officially marks the opening of voting for amateur baseball fans from across the country on GoldenSpikesAward.com. As part of this selection process, all voters will be asked to choose three players from the list of names. Voting will be open until Friday, May 29.
The Beavers are home this weekend for a three-game series against No. 25 California to end the regular season. All three games of the series will be televised live by the Pac-12 Networks.
