Anderson, McKinnon Make Regional Field

Oregon State redshirt sophomore Morgan Anderson and freshman Sam McKinnon have been named to the field for the NCAA Division I 2015 Track & Field Championships West Preliminary.
The meet is scheduled for May 28-30 at the University of Texas. Regional qualifiers advance to the national championships, June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene.
Anderson qualified as the 41st-ranked runner in the 48-woman 1,500-meter field with a season-best time of 4:24.55, set at the Oregon Relays on April 18. It’s the second-fastest time in that event in OSU history. She recently took 16th at the Pac-12 Championships in 4:26.31.
The first round of the 1,500 is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. May 28 and will narrow the field from 48 to 24. The top 12 finishers from the second round, set for 4:30 p.m. May 30, will advance to Eugene.
McKinnon advanced as the 27th-ranked qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best clocking of 10:25.78, set at the Pac-12 meet in just her second collegiate steeplechase. She broke her own school record at the Pac-12 meet, where she placed fourth, and is the No. 4-rated freshman West Regional qualifier.
The steeplechase quarterfinals are scheduled for 6:50 p.m. May 29. The 48 hopefuls will compete in three 16-women heats and the top 12 placers will advance to Eugene.
