Last Game
Oregon State committed three errors in the eighth, enabling Oregon to tie the game before the Ducks won Tuesday’s midweek 3-2 on a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning. Sam Tweedt started for the Beavers and scattered three hits with no runs over six innings.
Against The Bay Area
Oregon State takes a 10-game win streak against California into the opener Friday night, dating back to the 2012 season. Coupled with the now 11-game win streak over Stanford, the Beavers have won 21 straight games over the Bay Area schools.
At Home
The Beavers are 17-13 all-time against the Golden Bears at Goss Stadium, with 13 of those wins coming since 2005. OSU has won its last five series versus the Bears at home, going 13-2 in that span.
Cary Steps Up
The Beavers have now missed Trever Morrison in the lineup for 12 games, going 9-2-1 over that stretch. Elliott Cary has been on a tear since April 30, batting .349 (15-for-43) with one double, one triple and 10 RBI. He has hit safely in all but one game over that stretch.
Senior Day Saturday
Fans coming to Saturday’s game should note that OSU will be holding its annual senior day, and will be honoring Peyton Gastellum (manager), Clay Bauer, Michael Howard, Dane Lund and Zack Reser. Senior Day will start at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Moore At Home
Andrew Moore’s last regular season start of the year will mark his 25th all-time appearance at Goss Stadium, and his 24th start. The junior is 15-4 in his career at home, and sports a 1.84 earned run average in 176 innings. He has struck out 142 to just 37 walks (an impressive 3.9:1 ratio) at Goss.
Singles
• Head coach Pat Casey owns 32 of OSU’s 37 all-time wins against Cal, or 86.4 percent. The Beavers were 5-20 against the Bears before his arrival in 1995.
• The Beavers are averaging 2,812 fans per home date this year, second only to 2,931 last season. However, OSU averaged 2,828 per home date in the regular season in 2014.
• OSU is 28-9-1 when scoring first in 2015.
