Last Game
Logan Ice homered in the first inning but the Beavers were unable to hold on to an early five-run lead in an 8-6 loss to the Huskies on Friday night. Jeff Hendrix doubled twice for the Beavers, who collected eight hits off three Washington pitchers.
Win First Game, Win Series
Oregon State’s victory in the first game of the series Thursday night could be an indicator of how the series will pan out. The Beavers have won 26 of their last 30 Pac-12 Conference series when claiming the first game dating back to the 2011 season. OSU has won 3-of-4 series this season when that happens.
Hendrix Extends Streak
Jeff Hendrix extended his hit streak to nine games in a big way on Friday. He doubled twice, to virtually the same spot in left, in a 2-for-4 effort Friday, also driving in Elliott Cary for the game’s first run. Hendrix is 14-for-29 (.483) during the streak and has collected six runs, seven runs batted in and four doubles during it.
Rubber Match
The Beavers enter Saturday’s game needing a win in the rubber match to claim the series. History is on Oregon State’s side as OSU entered the season 13-5 in Pac-12 rubber matches dating back to 2011. OSU is 2-3 in rubber matches this season.
Donahue Note
Freshman Christian Donahue tallied one hit in Friday’s game. He’s now hit safely in eight of his last nine games, and is 12-for-33 (.364) during that stretch. He has six hits in his last three games.
Singles
• Oregon State’s catchers have combined to commit just two errors this season in 337 chances. That’s a .994 fielding percentage. They’ve also been charged with just two passed balls.
• The trio of Logan Ice, Dane Lund and KJ Harrison have also combined to throw out 21-of-41 (51.2 percent) of basestealers.
• The Beavers’ 233 all-time wins against UW are OSU’s most against opponent.
• The Beavers are 8-5 on Saturdays this season.
• Logan Ice has rasied his average 15 points over his last seven games. Both of his home runs have come in his last five games.
