Steven Nelson Selected by Chiefs in 3rd Round

CHICAGO – Former Oregon State cornerback Steven Nelson has been selected with the 34th pick in the 3rd round (98th overall) by the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday in the 2015 National Football League Draft.
Last season, Nelson earned Pac-12 All-Conference Second Team honors recording 60 tackles, including 2.0 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and eight passes broken up. The Warner Robins, Ga. native finished his two-year career at OSU with eight interceptions including a game-winning pick-six in the waning moments at San Diego State in 2013.
Nelson is the third Oregon State cornerback to be drafted in the last four years. He joins Brandon Hardin, who was taken as a safety by the Chicago Bears in the third round in 2012, and Jordan Poyer, who was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round in 2013.
He is just the fifth OSU player ever drafted by Kansas City and is the first since Gabe Miller was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2011 draft.
Season tickets are available and you can join Beaver Nation for the entire year for as little as $150. The season kicks off Friday, Sept. 4 at Reser Stadium against Weber State in a nationally televised game.
