Sean Mannion Selected by St. Louis in 3rd Round

CHICAGO – Former Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion has been selected with the 25th pick in the 3rd round (89th overall) by the St. Louis Rams on Friday in the 2015 National Football League Draft.
Last season, Mannion set the Pac-12 record with 13,600 career passing yards and broke virtually every passing record in Oregon State history. Twice earning Pac-12 Conference honorable mention, the four-year starter threw 83 touchdowns to set the OSU career mark and ranks seventh in conference history. In the summer of 2014, Mannion won the prestigious Manning Passing Academy Air-It-Out Challenge as well as the counselor’s challenge at Nike’s Elite 11 Quarterback Camp. The Pleasanton, Calif. native was rated as the No. 2 senior quarterback in America by ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. in June and was considered the third-highest rated senior quarterback heading into the draft.
Mannion is the first OSU quarterback to be drafted since Sean Canfield was taken in the seventh round by the New Orleans Saints in 2010. He joins former Oregon State signal-callers Derek Anderson (Carolina Panthers) and Matt Moore (Miami Dolphins) in the NFL quarterback fraternity.
He is the 17th former OSU player taken by St. Louis and the first since the Rams selected offensive lineman Roy Schuening in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
Season tickets are available and you can join Beaver Nation for the entire year for as little as $150. The season kicks off Friday, Sept. 4 at Reser Stadium against Weber State in a nationally televised game.
