Last Game
Oregon State hit seven home runs, including two apiece by Jeff Hendrix and KJ Harrison, in a 20-0 victory over Portland Wednesday night in Keizer, Ore. Logan Ice, Joe Gillette and Kyle Nobach also homered for the Beavers, who tied a school record for home runs in a single game.
Versus Stanford
Oregon State is on an eight-game win streak over Stanford, which is the longest in school history against the Cardinal. The Beavers have also won eight straight over Stanford at Sunken Diamond dating back to the 2009 season. Overall, OSU is 11-1 in its last 12 versus the Cardinal.
Big Night With The Bats
Oregon State tied a single-game record with seven home runs in the team’s 20-0 victory over Portland on Wednesday. The offensive outburst gave the Beavers 37 round trippers on the year, the most since the 2010 club hit 44. OSU is looking to hit the 40-home run plateau for the third time since 2007.
Meanwhile, On The Mound
Lost in the 20-run win was Oregon State’s fifth shutout of the season, and third in its last four games. The Beavers’ pitching staff has allowed just two earned runs over the last six games - the only two came in Sunday’s 15-inning victory. The staff has lowered its earned run average from 3.36 to 2.94 over that stretch.
Hendrix Moves To 15 In A Big Way
The lone statistic missing from Jeff Hendrix’s 14-game hit streak was a home run. Not anymore. The junior pushed his hit streak to 15 games in a big way Wednesday, hitting two home runs, and was 4-for-5 with a double and a single. Hendrix is 24-for-50 (.480) with 13 RBI, six doubles, two triples and two home runs during the streak. He has also walked 12 times during the hit streak.
Singles
• The team’s 24 hits Wednesday marked a season-best, surpassing the previous high of 21 against Grambling State.
• Friday’s matchup begins a stretch of seven consecutive games that will be televised - that will carry the Beavers through the regular season.
• Head coach Pat Casey owns 28 of the team’s 36 all-time wins (.778) against Stanford. OSU was 8-19 versus the Cardinal prior.
• OSU is 25-8-1 when scoring first in 2015.
