No. 14 Beavers Set for Pac-12 Championships

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s rowing team enters championship season this Sunday at the Pac-12 Championships at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
Oregon State, which is ranked No. 14 in the latest USRowing Collegiate Poll released on Wednesday, seeks to improve on last year’s third place team finish at the conference regatta. In 2014, three out of four OSU crews raced to bronze medal finishes with the Varsity 8 the exception. The Beavers face tough competition against some of the top crews in the nation including: No. 1 California, No. 2 Washington and No. 13 Stanford
“Our goal is to medal in all four events,” interim head coach Gabe Winkler said. “This is the culmination of our training all year. The guys have been training hard and our speeds are really good.”
The Beavers are slated to race four crews this weekend at the championships – the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8 and Novice 8.
“I’m excited. This is the first time we’ve brought four 8’s and that will give a lot of guys experience in a very big regatta. I hope everyone comes home with medals.”
