Anica Yoo Advances To NCAA Nationals

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Anica Yoo made history on Saturday by finishing the NCAA Regionals in a tie for sixth place to advance to the NCAA Division I Women‘s National Golf Championships.
Yoo finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 4-under 70-69-73--212 at the par-72, 6,350-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club and was one of the low three individuals not on the low six teams to advance to the NCAA Nationals. The San Antonio Regional featured 18 teams and six individuals.
The NCAA Women’s Golf Championships will take place Friday, May 22 through Wednesday, May 27 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
Yoo is the second Oregon State women’s golfer to advance to the NCAA Nationals as an individual, joining All-American Kathleen Takaishi who qualified in 1999 where she finished in a tie for 48th place at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
A senior from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Yoo had four birdies and five bogeys in the final round to shoot a 1-over 73 and tie Monica Vaughn of Arizona State for the lowest three-round score among non-qualifiers for the individual spot with a 4-under 212.
The 4-under 212 is an Oregon State three-round record, bettering the 3-under 213 that Takaishi shot at the Wahine Classic in the fall of 1998.
