Beavers Start Spring at PSU Hosted Tournament

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team will start the spring season Saturday, April 11 at a tournament hosted by Portland State University. The Beavers will play five matches on the day, including two split squad matches.
OSU will start the day against Central Washington at 10:40 a.m., followed by a midday game against Portland at 11:50 a.m. and then another game against Central Washington at 1:50 p.m. The Beavers will end the day with split squad games against Seattle U and Western Washington at 2:40 p.m.
“’We’re excited for our first competition of the spring. It’s a little awkward to have competition like this so early in the spring schedule, but it will give us a good early gauge. We are planning to play everyone equally on Saturday. We have our full roster for the fall already on campus, outside of incoming freshman Kayla Ellis. It’s big to have nearly everyone here this early.”
The Beavers have four redshirt freshmen who spent 2014 season with the team, Kory Cheshire, Lanesha Reagan, McKenna Hollingsworth and Maddy Gravley. They have also added transfer Jessi Seumalo as well as incoming freshman Daniela Vargas Quiros.
The games against Central Washington and Portland will have the entire OSU squad participating while the team will split in two groups with one taking on Seattle U and the other taking on Western Washington for the final matches of the day.
After the Portland State tournament the Beavers will compete in three more spring matches, with a sand competition being played against the University of Oregon April 21 at G3 Sports in Corvallis in addition to two indoor matches against the Ducks during the month of May.
