Morrison Named To Brooks Wallace Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oregon State sophomore Trever Morrison has been named to the initial watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top shortstop.
Forty-seven players dot the initial watch list, and Morrison is one of five from the Pac-12 Conference.
Morrison’s inclusion into the initial watch list comes with good reason. He’s batting .318 this season, up from .225 a year ago, and has five doubles, one home run and 16 runs batted in. Morrison’s defense has also seen an upswing from last season as he carries a .977 fielding percentage into the series with the Trojans after posting a .969 mark last season. Morrison has been a part of 22 double plays this season.
The award will be presented June 29 at the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Night of Champions in Lubbock.
Oregon State returns to action Friday when opening a three-game series against USC at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. The teams play at 5:35 p.m. Friday, 1:35 p.m. on Saturday and 1:05 p.m. Sunday.
