Moore Named Pac-12 Pitcher Of The Week

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Oregon State junior Andrew Moore was named the Pac-12 Conference’s Pitcher of the Week on Monday, just days after holding the league’s most potent offense to just five hits and a run in a complete-game effort.
Arizona came into the series against the Beavers with a Pac-12 leading .324 batting average, which also placed the Wildcats second in the country. Moore, who finished with his first complete game since his freshman season in 2013, held Arizona to a fourth-inning run and surrendered a double, triple and three singles in the victory.
Moore faced the minimum through the first three innings, then retired nine of the last 10 batters he faced. He struck out eight en route to his fourth victory of the season.
The Wildcats managed to get runners in scoring position in just the fourth and sixth innings. In the fourth, Riley Moore singled home a run for just the third earned run scored against Moore in Pac-12 play this season. In the sixth, Moore issued an intentional walk to load the bases but got out of the jam with one of his eight strikeouts.
With the win, he improved to 4-1 on the year and his earned run average of 1.40 is second in the league and 13th nationally. Opponents are batting a league worst .186 against him. His WHIP of 0.81 is sixth-best in the nation.
The Beavers now lead the Pac-12 with four weekly honors this season. KJ Harrison was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Feb. 23, followed by Moore earning the Pitcher of the Week honor March 9. Drew Rasmussen was named the league’s top pitcher on March 23.
It’s the third Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honor of Moore’s career, with the first coming May 20, 2013.
All-time, the Beavers have had 76 Pitcher of the Week awards, and 30 since the then-Pac-10 unified prior to the 1999 season.
