Beavers Add Caleb Michael to 2015 Signing Class

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men’s soccer team has added another outstanding player to its 2015 recruiting class, as Brentwood, Calif.’s Caleb Michael has committed to the Beavers, head coach Steve Simmons announced today.
Michael is a three-year varsity starter, and was a team captain in his junior season at Heritage High School. He earned the BVAL Coaches’ Award in 2014, as well as the Heritage Valley Coaches’ Award, and was a 2014 PDP State Camp participant.
“Caleb has the tools to be a Pac-12 defender,” Simmons said. “We’ve seen steady growth in his game over the past months and feel he’ll continue with this positive trajectory. Additionally his physical presence will serve us well. Caleb fits our culture and will help raise the bar in an already strong 2015 recruiting class.”
Michael spent time starting at centerback for the Diablo FC 97 Club team, helping the squad win the National Premier League Regional title. He joined the San Jose Earthquakes USSDA U-18 team in 2014, starting at centerback and scoring a goal against the LA Galaxy.
Michael has shown success academically as well, recording a high school GPA of 4.02.
Michael will join in Oregon State recruiting class that was ranked sixth in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. You can read more about the signing class here.
