Last Game
Andrew Moore held Arizona to five hits and a run in a complete-game effort as the Beavers opened the series with a 3-1 victory Friday night at Goss Stadium. Logan Ice drove in the game-winning run with a two-out double in the fourth and Michael Howard added an insurance run with an RBI single in the eighth. Moore struck out eight and allowed just a fourth-inning run in the win.
Actually Went Up
Andrew Moore was dominant against Arizona Friday but amazingly, after allowing one earned run, his earned run average in leagu play climbed ... to 0.68 from 0.58. He has allowed just three earned runs in 40 innings against league foes. Moore’s overall ERA dropped to 1.40. He has allowed 12 earned runs in 77 innings this season.
At Home
Oregon State improved to 15-2 at home this season with the 3-1 victory over the Wildcats. The Beavers are batting a healthy .281 at home this season, while opponents have been held to a .180 clip. OSU’s starting pitchers have a 1.85 ERA in 121 1/3 innings at Goss Stadium. They have walked just 23 in 17 games, while striking out 103.
Big Crowds
Friday’s crowd of 3,106 marked the third of better than 3,000 for the Beavers this season. OSU is averaging 2,710 fans per home date in 2015, which, if the season ended Saturday, would be second-best at home after last season’s 2,931. This year’s club, fortunately, has 13 home dates remaining, 11 of which come in Pac-12 Conference play.
Casey Against The Pac-12
As a team, the Beavers historically lead all-time series against Oregon, Washington and Utah. Head coach Pat Casey, however, is better than .500 as OSU’s head coach versus eight league teams. That includes a 28-24 record against Arizona, which amounts to better than 90 percent of the team’s 31 victories against the Wildcats.
Singles
• Friday’s game lasted just 2:08, the second-quickest of the season, and snapped a streak of four games of at least 3:29 in length.
• Kyle Nobach and Trever Morrison each extended hit streaks on Friday. Nobach pushed his to six games while Morrison sits at five.
• Drew Rasmussen is 3-1 with a 1.73 ERA at home this season. He has struck out 26 to four walks in 31 1/3 innings.
