Hallock Has Huge Day at Oregon Heptathlon

Eugene, Ore. – Oregon State junior Kara Hallock had a monster opening day at the Oregon Relays heptathlon on Thursday and is in second place in the seven-event competition.
Hallock posted season-bests on all four events and scored 3,108 points. She is in second place, 253 points behind leader Ashlee Moore of Oregon.
“Kara had an amazing first day, season-bests in all four events and a huge PR in the 200 meters,” coach Kelly Sullivan said. “Incredible!”
The Lebanon High School graduate, a transfer from Lane Community College:
· Scored 938 points in the 100 hurdles by finishing in 14.29. Her season-best was 14.33.
· Scored 783 points in the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 4.50 inches. Her season-best was 5-4.25.
· Scored 509 points in the shot put with a throw of 31-9.25. Her season-best was 31-7.25.
· Scored 878 points in the 200 meters by finishing in 25.10. Her season-best was 26.07.
The event concludes on Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
Hallock scored 5,000 points at the UC-Riverside Spring Classic on March 26-27 to become the third woman in OSU history to hit the 5,000-point milestone. The school record is 5,592 points, by Sonja Crowther in 1982. Olympian Cindy Greiner ranks second at 5,420.
