Last Game
Oregon State jumped out to a 9-3 lead thanks to a six-run third inning but the Beavers were unable to hold on in a 10-9 loss to Oregon Sunday afternoon in Eugene. The Beavers were led offensively by Jeff Hendrix, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs batted in. Kyle Nobach also tallied a pair of singles for two RBI.
Welcome Back
The series with the Wildcats marks Arizona’s first at Goss Stadium since the 2012 season due to a scheduling quirk. OSU and UA played in Tucson the past two seasons with the Beavers winning 5-of-6. Arizona won the series, two games to one, in 2012. The Beavers had won the previous three series at home dating back to 2006.
At Home, Finally
The Beavers return home for the first time since March 29 when hosting the Wildcats. The six-game trip was the team’s second-longest of the year after opening the season with eight straight in Surprise, Ariz. OSU has 21 games remaining during the regular season, with 14 scheduled for Goss Stadium, where the team is 14-2.
Moore, Moore, Moore
Andrew Moore, simply put, has been stellar in Pac-12 Conference action this season. The junior is 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA in 31 innings in league play. He has just four walks to 28 strikeouts and only 19 hits. In his last two starts alone, at UCLA and at Oregon, he has given up six hits in 15 innings while striking out 15.
Casey Against The Pac-12
As a team, the Beavers historically lead all-time series against Oregon, Washington and Utah. Head coach Pat Casey, however, is better than .500 as OSU’s head coach versus eight league teams. That includes a 27-24 record against Arizona, which amounts to 90 percent of the team’s 30 victories against the Wildcats.
Singles
• Kyle Nobach comes into Friday’s game with a team-leading five-game hit streak. He is 7-for-20 during it, with four runs and six RBI.
• Trever Morrison batted in the leadoff spot for the time this season on Sunday. Jeff Hendrix, who had been at the leadoff spot, batted cleanup for the first time in his career.
• OSU has scored nearly 22 percent of its 202 runs in the third inning this season. The Beavers have scored 44 in the third.
