QUOTING HEAD COACH EMILY FORD: “Clemson has done a great job of pulling together another great field. We will race three races, all with very strong competition. We’ll see a lot of new competitors and also several teams we’ve seen before this season. This race is always a great measuring stick to see how our speed is showing up on the race course.”
LAST YEAR AT THE CLEMSON INVITATIONAL: OSU’s Varsity 8 won it’s morning race on Day 1 edging out Gonzaga and five other crews including the host, Clemson. The Beavers’ 2V8 earned a second place finish just behind the Tigers, while the V4+ took third in its race and the 3V8 fourth. Afternoon races were postponed to Sunday. The second day, the V8 finished fourth in a tough, close morning race but returned in the afternoon to post a convincing victory over the likes of Harvard, Duke and Oklahoma. The 2V8 also finished fourth in its first race of the day before bouncing back to earn a second place finish in the afternoon.
