Seventy-six Plays Yields 3 TDs

First-year Oregon State football head coach Gary Andersen ran his team through a 76-play scrimmage Saturday afternoon in what was the final tune-up before next week’s Spring Game at Reser Stadium.
The Beaver offense, which is now operating with three quarterbacks after starting last month with seven, generated three touchdowns. True freshman signal-caller Seth Collins connected with senior wide receiver Richard Mullaney on a 13-yard strike and redshirt freshman quarterback Nick Mitchell scored on a three-yard run early in the day. Junior receiver Victor Bolden accounted for the third touchdown with a 15-yard run.
“My overall evaluation is that it was much improved in a lot of areas,” Andersen said about the scrimmage. “It was a much calmer feeling; they (the team) played faster, quicker – made some big plays. Overall, I’m proud of the kids; love the way they competed.”
The Beaver defense added three quarterback sacks, one each by Caleb Saulo,
Bright Ugwoegbu and Rommel Mageo.
Oregon State returns to the practice field Tuesday for the final three workouts before returning to the field in August.
