Beavers Felled By Utes

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State softball team (23-15, 4-9) dropped the series opener Friday afternoon against the Utah Utes (27-14, 5-8), 6-0.
The Utes took an early 3-0 lead, scoring two runs in the first and one run in the second inning.
Natalie Hampton had the lone hit on the day for the Beavers, drilling a leadoff double down the left field line in the fifth inning. Hampton finished the game 1-for-2, pushing her season average to .270 and her slugging percentage to .649, second best on the team.
The Utes added a run in the sixth inning and two final runs in the seventh, a score that would hold at 6-0.
Bev Miller went the distance for the Beavers, allowing nine hits while striking out three.
The Beavers return to the field Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. when they continue the series against the Utes. Saturday will be Little League and ASA day. All kids are encouraged to attend, with a post-game autograph session on the field with the team.
