Men?s Golf In Ohio For Weekend Tourney

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s golf team gets its final tune-up before the Pac-12 Championship when it competes at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday and Sunday. The Beavers are the only Pac-12 team in the 14-team field.
FIELD (14): Oregon State, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kent State, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, SMU, Southern Illinois and UNLV.
COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
BEAVERS’ LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of seniors Alex Franklin and Scott Kim, juniors Brian Jung and Chris Tedesco, and sophomore Kevin Murphy.
FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
TEE TIMES: There will be tee times off the first and 10th holes beginning at 7:45 a.m. ET (4:45 a.m. PT) on Saturday, and tee times off the first and 10th holes beginning at 8 a.m. ET (5 a.m. PT) on Sunday. The Beavers will be paired with Houston and Northwestern on the first day.

LAST TIME OUT: Alex Franklin carded a 3-under 67 in the final round of the 43rd Annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational last weekend to help the Oregon State men’s golf team move two spots up the leaderboard and finish in 11th place.
The Beavers wrapped up the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 29-over 293-288-288-869 at the par-70, 6,971-yard ASU Karsten Golf Club to finish 11th in the 14-team field.
Host Arizona State dominated the field and course, shooting a 25-over 815 to win by 25 strokes over second-place Iowa State. Jon Rahm of Arizona State, the No. 1 amateur in the country, won for the fifth time this season after finishing a stroke better than his teammate, Max Rottluff, with a 15-under 195.
Franklin was spectacular in the final round, dropping birdies on the par-4 second, third and 18 holes and the par-5 17th, to go with only one bogey for his 67. The lefty moved 18 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for eighth place with an even-par 71-72-67--210 for his fifth career top-10 finish.
Kevin Murphy finished a tie for 47th place with a 9-over 73-69-77--219 and Scott Kim was a stroke back with a 10-over 74-74-72--220 for a tie for 52nd place.
Brian Jung improved each round to finish in a tie for 59th with a 12-over 75-74-73--222 and Chris Tedesco finished in a tie for 72nd with an 18-over 79-73-76--228.
LAST TIME AT THE ROBERT KEPLER INTERCOLLEGIATE: David Fink fired a 1-over 72 in the final round of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate last year to help Oregon State finish the two-day, 54-hole tournament in 10th place.
The Beavers shot an 18-over 302 in windy conditions at the par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club on the final day and finished the tournament with a 46-over 295-301-302--898 to finish 10th in the 15-team field.
Fink eagled the par-5 fourth hole and birdied his final hole of the day, the par-4 ninth, to go with two bogeys and a double for his 1-over round, which moved him up the leaderboard 17 spots into a tie for 20th with a 9-over 75-75-72--222.
Brian Jung also had a good tournament as he finished in a tie for 25th place with a 10-over 71-75-77--223, while Alex Franklin was steady throughout the three rounds, finishing with a 12-over 74-76-75--225 for a tie for 30th place.
Kevin Murphy finished in a tie for 61st place with an 18-over 78-75-78--231 and Scott Kim was a stroke back with a 19-over 75-77-80--232 to finish in sole 65th place.
Georgia Tech won the team title with a 6-over 858 and Frederik Hammer of Ohio State and Ollie Schniederjans of Georgia Tech shared individual honors with a 3-under 210.
