No. 17 Beavers Set to Face Test at Stanford Invite
The No. 17 Oregon State men’s rowing team returns to the water this weekend for the Stanford Invitational at Redwood Shores, Calif. The Beavers will face the University of San Diego Saturday morning and conclude the day against No. 1 Washington. OSU wraps up the regatta Sunday morning against UC Irvine.
OSU is slated to race three boats, the Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8 and Freshman 8. In addition, the Beavers’ Third Varsity 8 and Novice 4+ will race at the Covered Bridge Regatta at Dexter Reservoir east of Eugene.
RACE TIMES (STANFORD INVITATIONAL): Racing for the Beavers at the Stanford Invitational runs from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the morning session. Afternoon racing starts at 1:40 p.m. and concludes at 2:00 for OSU.
9:00 a.m. – Varsity 8 vs. USD
9:40 a.m. – Junior Varsity 8 vs. USD
10:30 a.m. – Freshman Varsity 8 vs. USD
1:40 p.m. – First Varsity 8 vs. UW
1:50 p.m. – Junior Varsity 8 vs. UW
2:00 p.m. – Freshman 8 vs. UW
Sunday’s racing begins at 9:20 a.m. and wraps up at 10:40 a.m.
9:20 a.m. – Varsity 8 vs. UCI
10:00 a.m. – Junior Varsity 8 vs. UCI
10:40 a.m. – Freshman 8 vs. UCI
RACE TIMES (COVERED BRIDGE REGATTA): The Beavers’ Third Varsity 8 will race in the Varsity 8 races beginning at 8 a.m.
8:00 a.m. – Third Varsity 8 vs. Western Washington ‘A’ and ‘B’ and Sonoma State8:30 a.m. – Novice 4+ vs. Oregon ‘A’, Humboldt State, Western Washington and Seattle University (Heat 1)
12:00 p.m. – Third Varsity 8 vs. Western Washington ‘A’ and ‘B’ and Sonoma State
12:40 p.m. – Novice 4+ Grand Final

LAST YEAR AT THE STANFORD INVITATIONAL: Oregon State’s 16th-ranked Varsity 8 crew defeated No. 12 Wisconsin and University of San Diego but couldn’t top No. 1 California in a full weekend of racing at the 2014 Stanford Invitational.
