Last Game
Oregon State swept a doubleheader from Fresno State Saturday, taking game one, 5-2, before getting game two, 12-2. Both Gabe Clark and KJ Harrison hit home runs in the wins, which extended the Beavers’ win streak to a season-long eight games. Clark went 4-for-5 in game two and Jeff Hendrix drove in four in the finale. Drew Rasmussen and Travis Eckert both picked up wins in the doubleheader. OSU finished with 16 hits in game two.
Fresno State At Home
Oregon State is welcoming Fresno State to Corvallis for the first time since 1952. The Beavers and Bulldogs met for two games in the postseason that year, with OSU winning both to propel the Beavers to the College World Series. OSU last defeated Fresno State twice during the 1991 season prior to Friday’s home opener.
First In Home Runs
Oregon State leads the Pac-12 by a wide margin in home runs, and that number was pushed to 20 with home runs by Gabe Clark and KJ Harrison on Saturday. The Beavers’ 20 round trippers is just one shy of the team’s total of 21 in 59 games last season.
Eight Games
Oregon State carries an eight-game hit streak into Sunday’s game. It is tied for the eighth-longest active streak in the nation, and tops in the Pac-12 Conference.
That’s A Pretty Good Average
Oregon State is averaging 8.3 runs per game this season, which ranks sixth in the nation and first in the Pac-12. The Beavers are also out-scoring opponents by 4.3 runs per game, which is tied with Arizona for eighth in the nation, just .01 runs per game shy of Pac-12 leader UCLA.
Average Attendance
Through four dates this season, the Beavers are averaging 2,861 fans at Goss Stadium. The crowd of 3,261 at Saturday’s doubleheader is the fourth-largest mark by a Pac-12 club at a home game this season. The 2,861 is just shy of the 2,931 average last season. OSU has 24 remaining dates at home this season.
Singles
• Pat Casey needs two victories for 900 all-time as a head coach.
• Eight different players have hit at least one home run this season.
• The Beavers are batting .347 as a team during the eight-game hit streak, and have 20 doubles, four triples and 15 home runs.
