Last Game
Kyle Nobach tallied four hits and Jeff Hendrix, Joe Gillette and Gabe Clark all homered as the Beavers won their 22nd straight over Portland with a 14-2 victory on Wednesday. Sam Tweedt tossed six innings in the win, striking out six with no walks and four hits allowed to get the win to improve to 2-0. Hendrix hit a three-run shot in the second that helped guide the Beavers to an eventual 9-0 lead.
Fresno State At Home
Oregon State is welcoming Fresno State to Corvallis for the first time since 1952. The Beavers and Bulldogs met for two games in the postseason that year, with OSU winning both to propel the Beavers to the College World Series. OSU last defeated Fresno State twice during the 1991 season. The teams have met just six times since.
First In Slugging
Oregon State comes into the game tied with Arkansas for the nation’s top slugging percentage at .556 - the Beavers are listed first amongst the two schools. OSU’s single-season slugging percentage record is .497 in 1997. The Beavers posted a .373 mark in 2014.
Home Runs
The Beavers are also near the top of the national rankings for round trippers, coming in third, just one shy of both Nevada and Texas A&M. It has taken OSU just 12 games to reach 16; in 2014, the Beavers did not hit their 16th until the 46th game of the year when OSU hit four in a win over UCLA.
Prolific Since 2011
Over the last five games, the Beavers have scored 15, 10, 25, nine and 14 runs to total 73 overall. That’s the most for the Beavers over a five-game stretch since Oregon State scored 62 in wins over UT-San Antonio and Hartford in 2011.
Singles
• Oregon State takes a five-game win streak into the series. The Beavers are batting .394 with 15 doubles, four triples and 11 home runs during it. That’s a .691 slugging percentage.
• Additionally, the Beavers have scored at least one run in 28 of the team’s 41 innings (68.2 percent) at the plate over that stretch.
• The OSU staff has a 2.60 earned run average over those five games, lowering the overall mark to 3.83 from 4.71 prior to the streak.
• Pat Casey needs five victories for 900 all-time as a head coach.
• Eight different players have hit at least one home run this season.
